The Meaning of the ‘Blue Jean Collection‘

The Meaning of the ‘Blue Jean Collection‘

Every Pure Dixie Collection is rooted in faith and can have Biblical meaning behind it.  The collection with the beautiful denim material is not the ‘denim’ collection, it is the Blue Jean Collection!  And here is why:

Dixie is inspired through prayer and time with the Lord to come up with what Pure Dixie will offer next.

1st Peter 4:10 Says “ Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”  Dixie definitely has been given the gift of design and she is sharing it with all of you- her beloved customers!  The Blue Jean has 2 separate meanings, but as I have learned, they have an incredible correlation.

The first part of the Blue Jean is the word ‘blue’.  It can have different meanings, but the most common is ‘peace’.  And there is no greater peace than that which can be offered from God!

The second part of the Blue Jean is the word ‘Jean’.  It is a great women’s name, and it has a very specific meaning- are you ready for this?  ... God is gracious!  What a great name meaning, and many of you probably know a ‘Jean’ or may even be named ‘Jean’ yourself.  So there it is, the collection means ‘peace’ and ‘God is gracious’.  But there is more!

Dixie told me what the name of the collection would be and what the meaning of the name ‘Jean’ means.  As I study the Word, I am fascinated with the correlation of the two words.  For starters, did you know 3 apostles- Paul, Peter, and John- started and/or ended many of their letters to the Church with an introduction exactly like, or similar to this introduction in the book of 1 Corinthians verse 3, the apostle Paul wrote, ‘Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.’  This introduction appears in at least a dozen new testament books that are letters to Churches of that time.

OK, so what does grace really mean?  It means ‘undeserved or unmerited favor’.  And what about peace?  It means ‘freedom from disturbance’.  If we really understand God’s grace, could there be any greater form of peace? I say NO!  If we believe that we have to work our way to Heaven, or that we owe God something for his GIFT of salvation, we do not understand and really cannot receive His grace.  It is not until we come to the place in life that we REALLY understand that God loves us so much, and desires a relationship with us SO MUCH, and that we as sinners are completely and TOTALLY UNDESERVING and COMPLETELY INCAPABLE of paying for such a thing as redemptions from our sins and eternity in Heaven- that we can begin to comprehend the grace of God and ultimately the peace that it brings.  The ultimate example of God's grace is demonstrated in the sacrifice of a sinless Jesus dying on the cross in our place and Him being our only way to Heaven.

If we do begin to understand how gracious God is through Jesus on the cross, then (and only then) can we experience such a peace as is described in Phillipians 4:7 ‘And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus’.  Do you know this kind of peace?  OR as Jesus himself said ‘Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid’.  Where does your peace come from?  If it comes from a bank account, health report, news report, weather report, how people feel about you… it is NOT the kind of peace Jesus promises.  Does it come from knowing who created you, who longs to redeem you, who accepts you as you are without working for it, who offers salvation through HIS faithfulness when ours fails?  THIS is God’s grace.  THIS is favor we do not deserve and cannot pay for.  And THIS grace can and should offer the ultimate peace to you and me!

Ephesians 1:5-8 says ‘he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will- to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.’  Do you understand this grace?  Do you understand and receive this undeserved favor from God?  And if so, does it bring you peace?  It SHOULD!

The topic of grace is so huge and so important throughout the Bible that it cannot be missed.  Everything points to Jesus’ work on the cross for our only means of salvation from sin and reconciliation with God.  It is hard to comprehend, and as I write this, I pray for a deeper understanding of grace myself!

The Blue Jean Collection (the peace and grace collection) has been such a great reminder to seek God’s grace and therefore His peace.

We hope you love this collection, but more importantly, we hope that you seek to understand what it really means!
